Arts Tasmania and the Department of Health invite applications from Tasmanian artists to create an artwork for the newly developed central exterior courtyard of the Midlands Multi-Purpose Health Centre.
Summary
The Midlands Multi-Purpose Health Centre in Oatlands provides key health services to the people of the Central Midlands Region. The centre is undergoing a major redevelopment, including the upgrade of existing aged care residences, and the addition of eight new residential rooms.
We invite applications from Tasmanian artists to create an artwork for the newly developed central exterior courtyard. The artwork should draw on the cultural, historical and natural context of the Oatlands district, and evoke a sense of welcome, comfort and calm.
As a number of residential patients at the Centre are living with dementia, we encourage artwork concepts that invite gentle interactive or sensory engagement, to spark curiosity and imagination while maintaining a sense of calm and restfulness.
