Aboriginal Arts Program
This program supports Tasmanian Aboriginal people to share their culture, stories and heritage through traditional and non-traditional arts and cultural activities.
Important update on funds available in this round
A one-off funding uplift of $80,000 has been added to this round, bringing total available funds to $120,000.
This uplift is aimed at supporting Tasmanian organisations to deliver activities that engage Aboriginal artists and arts workers and will be allocated through two grants of $40,000. The remaining funds of $40,000 will be available to support individual artists and groups.
Organisations in receipt of multi-year operational support from Arts Tasmania through Arts organisations – multi-year are eligible to apply to this program in 2025 only.

Eligibility
As the applicant, you must be:
- a Tasmanian Aboriginal artist who has lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months
- a group with at least one Tasmanian Aboriginal member who has lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months
- an Aboriginal-led organisation based in Tasmania
- an organisation working on an arts activity with Tasmanian Aboriginal artists.
You must also meet our general eligibility requirements and the Tasmanian Government's eligibility policy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs.
What can I apply for?
You can apply for funds towards:
- creative development (including materials) and research
- presenting work (exhibitions, performances, and publications)
- local, national, or international residencies
- professional development activities including mentorships.

Arts Tasmania expects that artists are paid fairly for their work. Artist wages and fees should be included in all application budgets. For more information, please visit the artist remuneration guidelines.
You cannot use grant funds to purchase equipment.
