The peers discussed the overall quality of the applications to both rounds and made the following comments:
- Be direct and specific about how the activity benefits Aboriginal people, artists, and community
- Explain what opportunities it creates and why this funding is essential now
- Articulate how the work will be documented or recorded, and how it will continue or create lasting impact beyond the initial activity
- Keep the activity realistic and well-defined
- Include letters of support from Elders and community members to demonstrate cultural endorsement and support
- Clearly articulate how cultural protocols and consultation will be managed
- Demonstrate clear connections to cultural wellbeing through land, sea, and Country
- Provide detailed and achievable timelines with clear stages
- Provide clear development milestones to demonstrate viability
- Include all costs in the budget with detailed breakdowns showing how costs were calculated
- Include fair artists wages and fees in the budget
- Show confirmed partnerships and funding sources, or have backup plans for unconfirmed funding
- Choose relevant examples of past work and make sure all links to support material work
