Funding

Arts Tasmania provides funding to individuals and organisations through various grants and loans programs.

This funding is a form of financial assistance for a defined project or program of activities.

Grants are non-repayable provided the project proceeds as approved.

A range of grant opportunities are available through Arts Tasmania at different times throughout the year. It is important to check that you are applying to the correct funding round and that you have your application ready to submit by the correct closing date because most of our funding opportunities are available only once a year.

In most cases grants cannot be requested for items of a capital nature, such as the purchase of assets. The exceptions to this are the Infrastructure Fund and Start-Up Grants. Start-Up Grants are available through the Assistance to Individuals and Assistance to Organisations programs.

Application tool kits for each grant round are released two months before the relevant closing date, with the exception of the small museums and collections program which has a longer lead time to facilitate consultation with the roving curators.

The tool kits are posted online or you can request a copy by calling or visiting Arts Tasmania's offices. The application tool kits are an essential part of the application process. They contain specific information for each round, including eligibility requirements, assessment criteria and planning and budgeting templates that will guide you through the application process.
