New funding for Tasmanian jewellers
Friday, 7 September 2018
Arts Tasmania has partnered with local co-operative gallery, FIND Contemporary Jewellery Collective to offer a new bursary program aimed at helping emerging local jewellers to develop their practice.
The new initiative will provide $1 000 to one Tasmanian contemporary jeweller each year in order to help them build their business.
This is the first year the bursary has been offered, and it will be awarded annually until 2020.
The recipients will be able to choose how they spend the funding, putting it towards whatever best suits their professional needs.
This could include purchasing equipment or materials, participating in masterclasses or marketing their work.
The FIND Jewellery Collective was established in 2002, providing individual artists with an affordable and supportive environment to sell their work.
Since then the gallery has developed many opportunities for up and coming jewellers, offering a place of collaboration, co-operation, learning and support to its members.
Applications for the 2018 bursary are now open, closing on 15 October.
