Artsbridge (March 2021)

This program supports opportunities interstate or intrastate, or assistance to bring national arts professionals to Tasmania.

Funding of $35 000 has been approved for eight projects in this round.

Funding recommendations were made by expert peers drawn down from the Cultural and Creative Industries Expert Register.

Grants

Archipelago Productions - $2 437 towards bringing an interstate writer to Tasmania to work on an adaption

Caitlin Fargher - $3 000 towards a residency atWatch This Space ARI in Alice Springs

Carly Young - $5 168 towards sending two Tasmanian artists to Sydney for the creative development and presentation of a new live cinema performance

Jane Bamford - $3 000 towards attending the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Carnival as a speaker

Lauren Kronemyer - $6 000 towards premiering a new work by Pony Express at the New Annual Festival 2021 in Newcastle

Pete Cornelius - $6 250 towards a Tasmanian album launch tour

Cynthia Hawkins - $3 000 towards showing wearable art at FOMA (Fabrics of Multicultural Art) in Sydney

Van Diemens Band - $6 145 towards bringing interstate artists to Tasmania for a regional tour

Feedback from the expert peers

The peers discussed the overall quality of the applications to the March 2021 round of Artsbridge and made the following comments:

  • Applications that clearly articulated the specific outcomes that would be achieved through securing funding were more likely to be supported by the peers.
  • Peers encouraged applicants to consider how partnerships could strengthen or support the proposed activity. Applications that involved confirmed partnerships and included information around the benefits and impacts of these partnerships were more likely to be supported.
  • The stronger applications included targeted letters of support that spoke about the integrity, viability and/or benefit of the activity. These letters directly related to the funding application.
  • Applications that had specific support material and links were favourable, such as an artist portfolio or website rather than social media links.
  • The stronger applications included information relating to the applicants career trajectory or development.
