Arts Tasmania

The FIND Contemporary Jewellery Collective Bursary 2019-20

The FIND Contemporary Jewellery Collective Bursary helps emerging and mid-career contemporary jewellers to undertake professional development activities.

It is offered in partnership with the FIND Contemporary Jewellery Collective.

The Minister for the Arts approved one bursary of $1 000 through this round to Samantha Dennis for the development and delivery of new work for an exhibition.

Arts Tasmania uses peer assessors, drawn from the Cultural and Creative Industries Expert Register, to recommend the activities for support.

    General feedback

The peers discussed the overall quality of the applications and made the following comments:

    • Peers were impressed with the level of quality and innovation present in the applications.
    • Applicants were encouraged to clearly demonstrate that they were working as a contemporary jeweller.
    • Though a budget is not required as part of the application, peers found it easier to assess applications that clearly stated how funds would be used.
    • Applicants were encouraged to clearly tell peers what stage they were at in their career and to include a relevant CV that supported this.
