National peak bodies and membership organisations

Melbourne Fringe
Leading organisation for the independent arts in Victoria, that provides support, professional development, advocacy and presentation opportunities.

Young People and the Arts Australia
The Australian peak body for professional organisations and practitioners that engage children and young people in the arts.

Tasmanian awards and prizes

The MONA Scholarship
Offers a $12 500 bursary to an emerging Tasmanian artist for materials and equipment to make their art. The artist also holds an exhibition and MONA can select one piece from the exhibition for their permanent collection.

RACT Youth Portraiture Prize
Open to submission of portraits of living Tasmanians by Tasmanian artists aged 30 and under. The major prize is $5 000 plus a trip to Sydney to view the Archibald Prize Exhibition. 

Southern Cross Young Achiever awards
One of the Southern Cross Young Achiever Awards, the Bokprint Arts & Cultural Development Award is for any artist 28 years and under. Winners receive $1,000 and extensive media promotion.

National awards and prizes

Art and Australia/Credit Suisse Private Banking Contemporary Art Award
An award for visual artists who have been practicing professionally for no more than five years, and who have had their work publicly exhibited.

Australian Book Review Young Calibre Award
Essay entries from emerging writers aged 21 and under are eligible with a prize awarded to an outstanding piece of creative non-fiction.

Australian/Vogel Literary Award
Presented for unpublished manuscripts by a writer under the age of 35. The award offers publication by Allen and Unwin and prize money totalling $20 000. 

Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) Scholarships
AYO Scholarships are available for three outstanding musicians selected to play in the Australian Youth Orchestra. 

Brett Whiteley Studio Travelling Art Scholarship
Offers a scholarship for a talented young artist with an established body of work, who is best able to demonstrate the benefit of the scholarship to further his or her art education in Europe.

Churchie National Emerging Art Prize
Prize available across five categories of paintings, works on paper, photography and sculpture. Finalists from all Australian states and territories will be pre-selected with the overall winner rewarded with a $15 000 cash prize.

Generations in Jazz Vocal Scholarship
Aims to further the career of the successful jazz vocalist, aged between 15 and 21 years of age. The winner will receive $5 000 to assist in the development of their careers.

James Morrison Jazz Scholarship
Open to solo instrumentalists aged between 15 and 19. The winner receives $10 000 to assist in the development of their career.

Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship
Awards substantial funds annually for a number of scholarships that enable visual artists to study and develop their artistic capacities, skills and talents outside of Australia. 

Sidney Myer Fund Australian Ceramic Award
A biennale award given in three categories, with a combined prize pool of $55 000.

Viscopy John Fries Award
An annual award of $10,000 prize money and is open to emerging artists of all ages and disciplines resident in Australia and New Zealand.

Australian Chamber Orchestra - Emerging Artists Program
An emerging artists program that connects talented young Australian string players with members of the orchestra.

The Australia Youth Orchestra
A prestigious and innovative training organisations that presents over a dozen tailored training and performance programs each year for aspiring musicians, composers, arts administrators and music journalists aged 12 to 30 years of age.

Contemporary Art Tasmania (CAT) - Curatorial Mentorship
A professional development opportunity is offered annually and allows the recipient to develop and realise an exhibition at CAST under the guidance of CAST staff.

Cordite Poetry Review
Published bi-annually, Cordite Poetry Review showcases the work of emerging and established Australian poets, while fostering links with an international audience.

Next Wave Festival
A biennial festival and artist development organisation presenting genre-busting new works by the next wave of Australian artists. 

Splendid
An incubator for creative possibilities, viewed within the context of a site-specific music festival. Splendid offers participating artists opportunities to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment that encourages critical thinking and experimentation.

Stompin Youth Dance Company
Based in Launceston, Stompin Youth Dance Company is for 14 to 26 year olds who are interested in generating dance that links regional youth culture with contemporary performing arts practices.

Triple J Unearthed
Allows unsigned artists to upload their music and be heard by the public. It also allows listeners to create playlists, submit reviews and download podcasts.
