Designed Objects Tasmania (DOT) is the leading and longest running independent design collective in Tasmania. Each year dot. offers a 12 month Springboard Scholarship to two new design graduates and support their transition from student to design practitioner.

The scholarships include studio space in the dot. workshop, mentorships, professional development sessions and the support of a design community. The 2012 Springboarders have now ‘SPRUNG” and this exhibition celebrates the work they have developed during their scholarship.

The work of designer maker Lachlan Taylor is focused around the natural environment and how forms that generated naturally over time can influence design. Looking into the Tasmanian wilderness for inspiration Lachlan’s latest series is comprised of both traditional and contemporary designs.

Design Collective Dhab Studio (Alec Balcombe & David Houbaer)
Through the investigation into the user’s interaction and relationship with objects, the design duo is focused on combining both, Tasmanian traditional and contemporary fabrication techniques while enhancing function with a strong focus on sustainable practice.
