Tasmania Performs presents A Girl and Her Squid

Created By Bridget Nicklason-King, Samora Clark and Mathew Oaks, Director Azaria Universe, Designer Rachel Lang

Returning from sell-out seasons in Melbourne and at the Falls Festival

Incredible stunts are woven into a gentle story about a slightly eccentric girl and her rather unusual pet … a squid, played by a 6ft male contortionist who lives in the bath!

Tasmania Performs is a State Government initiative that provides regional audiences with access to first class performing arts experiences. A Girl and Her Squid begins touring in Queenstown on Tuesday 25 November and then plays Stanley, Deloraine, Scottsdale, Bothwell, St Marys, Swansea, Bicheno, Nubeena, Franklin, Pontville and Kettering.

The production features two extraordinary young Tasmanian artists. At the age of 17, Samora Clark became Australia's youngest sword swallower in history. He is also the world's tallest contortionist at an amazing 195 cm in height. Bridget Nicklason-King graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts, distinction in dance. Together they create wild, wonderful, whimsical shows that audiences love.

Both Bridget and Sam were born in regional Tasmania, Bridget in Pyengana and Samora grew up in Penguin. After much success nationally and internationally they are now back to share their talent with regional communities across Tasmania.
