New expertise for the arts
Four new members have been appointed to the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board.
The Tasmanian and interstate-based professionals will add extensive skills, experience and knowledge to the board.
The new members are:
- Ian Roberts, Melbourne-based executive officer of the Harold Mitchell Foundation and former head of the Melbourne International Arts Festival;
- Dr Grace Cochrane, renowned former curator of Sydney's Powerhouse Museum;
- Hobart barrister and solicitor Madeleine Ogilvie; and
- University of Tasmania Professor Lucy Frost.
ANZ Chief Economist Saul Eslake has been reappointed as Chair of the Board.
Other reappointments are:
- Director of BigHArt Scott Rankin;
- National Trust (Tasmania) CEO Chris Tassell;
- Director of Arts Tasmania Katherine Hough;
- Tasmanian Aboriginal community member Vicki Matson-Green;
- Furniture designer and arts manager Dr Pippa Dickson; and
- Singer Maria Lurighi.
The Minister for Tourism, Arts and the Environment, Paula Wriedt, said Tasmania was fortunate to have people of such high calibre, and so respected in the industry, to support the development of the arts.
"The Arts Advisory Board plays a key role in the shaping of arts policy in the state and it is exciting to see such a wide range of backgrounds and views represented," Ms Wriedt said.
