Launceston to host 2010 national regional arts event
Launceston will host the 2010 Regional Arts Australia national conference in a first for Tasmania.
Tasmanian Regional Arts has been successful in its bid to host the prestigious national event which will see Launceston brimming with creative energy.
The conference will draw hundreds of artists and artsworkers from all over Australia and overseas and the host city will be the hub of cultural activity, performance, exhibitions, discussion and debate from August 27 to 29.
The conference will focus on the theme of island inspiration, and Tasmanian creativity will be showcased in a comprehensive artistic program as part of the conference.
Regional Arts Australia is the key national body representing arts organisations and artists working in regional Australia.
It promotes the development of the arts and access to arts and culture for Australians living in regional, rural and remote parts of the country.
As the state host in 2010, Tasmanian Regional Arts will coordinate the conference proceedings and associated arts and cultural events.
