Bombshells! Tasmania Performs presents the first of 3 regional tours for 2008

Tasmania Performs has partnered with a range of Councils and community organisations to deliver first class theatre into regional communities during 2008.

Launched as a state government performing arts initiative, through Arts Tasmania in 2006, Tasmania Performs selects and presents fine Tasmanian productions across the State in the alternate year to the Ten Days on the Island Festival.

The first production will be Bombshells touring to Stanley, Devonport, St Helens, Ouse and Pontville, 1- 5 July 2008.

Wickedly entertaining, it showcases six dynamic females, each facing crossroads in their lives. From a backtracking bride-to-be caught on the threshold, to a weedy cactus-growing widow as prickly as her plants, Bombshells opens a window into the lives of fascinating, curious and often hilarious women.

From the mind of award-winning Australian playwright Joanna Murray-Smith, Bombshells has enjoyed sold out productions on the West End, Broadway and all around Australia.

Bombshells is the first production from the new Tasmanian Theatre Company, directed by the state's most experienced director Robert Jarman. You can find out all about the Company and how to book for performances in your region at: http://www.tastheatre.com/shows/bombshells

Producer, Annette Downs is thrilled by the enthusiasm with which this tour has been received.

"I enjoy partnering with motivated local organisations that use the performances as fundraising events for their community. I am constantly amazed at what a difference a few passionate and energetic community leaders can make to their town" said Ms Downs.
