The Tasmanian Government Art Site Scheme register of peers

The Scheme's register of peers is a database of artists who are interested in attending selection committee meetings where Expressions of Interest are assessed. The committee is made up of the project architect, the government department responsible for the building (for example Education Department), representatives of the building user (for example the Principal of the school) and one of Arts Tasmania’s Public Art Officers.

By including an independent artist in the discussions, particular art form expertise is shared, the transparency of the selection process is increased and artists access a professional development opportunity by observing and participating in the selection process.

Arts Tasmania seeks expressions of interest from contemporary artists to be included on the Tasmanian Government Art Site Scheme register of peers. Registration and participation is voluntary. Artists will act as advisors to the panel and will take part in all non-voting aspects of the selection process.

If you would like to be considered for inclusion in selection meetings you will need to:

  • complete a registration form and send it to
  • be available to read all documents and images for a commission (1 to 2 hours)
  • treat all information received in relation to selection meetings as confidential
  • be available to travel and participate in the selection meeting (2-3 hours)

Please note that Arts Tasmania will be conscious of artists’ proximity to the meeting location in order to minimise transport, cost and time for artists.

Sign up and share your expertise as an advisor to the selection committee.
