Vita Brown Bequest Bursary 2016
Vita Ethel Brown (11 October 1916 – 15 December 2012) generously bequeathed funds to Arts Tasmania "to make a grant to assist two or more emerging artists to purchase materials provided always that the artist chosen shall be justified by their work."
The following artists have been awarded the Vita Brown Bequest Bursary for 2016.
Lois Reid administers a recording and mastering studio in Lenah Valley called Miss Master. Miss Master offers professional development opportunities for women working in contemporary music including musicians, producers and sound engineers. Ms Reid will receive a $500 bursary towards upgrading the outdated software currently in use at Miss Master.
Beverly Waldie, of Mount Nelson, is an established graphic designer who recently graduated from the Tasmanian College of the Arts at the University of Tasmania with a major in 3D Design. Ms Waldie is now commencing a career as a furniture designer and maker. Ms Waldie will receive a $500 bursary towards purchasing materials and fabricating her designs.
