Mapping - Alan Young

11 October 2012 - 8 November 2012

Alan’s paintings are grounded in what he perceives through everyday experiences and observations. He is interested in the relationships between people and place and especially how these intersect with notions around mapping.

This body of work explores the broad concept of mapping as Alan documents his response to new locations.  These include urban environments such as North Hobart or coastal locations like as Bondi Beach: “Part of my concept of mapping involves the idea of people connecting with place and being embedded seamlessly into an environment. Accordingly, my figuration is multi –purpose and multi-charactered.”
