Patrick Hall Monograph
Prominent Tasmanian furniture designer and visual artist Patrick Hall was the first Tasmanian artist to receive recognition as a 'Treasured Tasmanian' in the Tasmanian Monograph series publications.
Tasmanian monographs celebrate Tasmania's diverse arts community, recognising Tasmanian artists for their innovation, courage to experiment and, above all, commitment to quality. All of these elements are abundantly demonstrated in the first monograph of the series, which focuses on Patrick Hall, an outstanding visual artist whose work is rich in character, humour and deep meaning.
Patrick Hall was selected by the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board and its specialist advisory panels from several thousand practising artists. The criteria established for selection required outstanding achievement in the areas of creativity, innovation, originality and professionalism. The artist must have achieved national significance with substantial international recognition, created a substantial body of work, and undertaken a significant amount of their creative output in Tasmania.
The first Tasmanian Monograph, Patrick Hall with text by Grace Cochrane, is published and distributed by Thames and Hudson under its Craftsman House imprint.
