Partnerships

Local Government Partnerships

The Local Government Partnership Agreements program was launched in Tasmania in 1998 and the first Partnership Agreement was signed in June 1999.

Partnership Agreements are a way for State and Local Government to work together for the benefit of local communities.

Partnerships are essentially a formalised way for Local Government and State Government to work together towards common goals. For Arts Tasmania, this has meant that many councils have worked together with Arts Tasmania to create cultural plans, regional audits or strategies to develop arts in their area.

To view a partnership, visit the website of the Local Government Division of the Department of Premier and Cabinet: State and Local Government Partnership Agreements.

The State Government also has a partnership agreement with the University of Tasmania. Through this agreement, Arts Tasmania presented Reflections of Tasmania, a lecture series of Tasmanian artistic alumni in 2004, a public art conference in 2005, and developed a publishing house.

National Standards for Australian Museums and Galleries

The National Standards for Australian Museums and Galleries are available online at Collections Australia Network (CAN).

Collecting organisations of all kinds are invited to use the National Standards framework as a resource.

The National Standards for Australian Museums and Galleries have been produced collaboratively by the National Standards Taskforce, of which Arts Tasmania is a member. The Ian Potter Foundation has kindly supported this project by providing funds for the development, copy-editing and design of the National Standards document.

Please contact the Roving Curators at Arts Tasmania to find out about museum development programs and other activities related to museum standards.
